Joan M Núñez do Rio is a lecturer at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). He has a Ph.D. in Computer Vision and an MSc in Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Computer Vision Center), and a BSc in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He is currently a member of AIWELL research group at UOC eHealth Centre and teaches courses in the field of Artificial Intelligence and mathematics at the UOC Faculty of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications. He has previously been a researcher at the Institute of Ophthalmology, at University College London, and at King's College London as a member of the Robotics and Vision in Medicine Lab and the King's Ophthalmology Research Unit. He researches in the fields of Computer Vision and Medical Imaging, using deep learning techniques to put Artificial Intelligence at the service of health care and wellbeing in disciplines such as ophthalmology or neurology.
