Joan M. Nuñez do Rio has a PhD in Computer Vision from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Computer Vision Center) and is currently a member of AIWELL research group at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, where he also teaches courses in the field of Artificial Intelligence and mathematics. He has previously been a researcher at the Institute of Ophthalmology, at University College London, and at King's College London as a member of the Robotics and Vision in Medicine Lab and the King's Ophthalmology Research Unit. His research interests span the areas of Computer Vision and Medical Imaging, using deep learning techniques to put Artificial Intelligence at the service of health care and wellbeing in varied medical fields, such as ophthalmology or neurology.
