Ismael Benito-Altamirano, Dr., is an Electronic in Telecommunication Engineer (2015) and a Physicist (2016) by the University of Barcelona, and an M.Sc. in Photonics by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (2016). He is also a Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Sciences by the UB (2022). From 2018 to 2021 was the CTO of ColorSensing, S.L. Also, after finishing his Ph.D., he has worked as Senior Research Engineer at IZI Record, another start-up company in the city of Barcelona. Moreover, he has worked as a Research Engineer and Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering (UB). In 2022, he joined the Faculty of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) as an Assistant Professor. Later, in 2024, he fully joined the UOC as a Lecturer Professor. 

Currently, he teaches in several B.Sc., B.Eng. and M.Sc. at both UB and UOC. Regarding his research, he develops computer vision algorithms for colorimetric and microscopic applications, such as: machine-readable patterns to readout colorimetric dyes, holographic image reconstruction in microscope-on-a-chip setups or superresoltion imaging.
